Dear Lili,
As I guess you know, both your Poppie and Nonnie served in the military during World War II. Poppie was in the Army Air Corps (now the Air Force) and rose to the rank fo Major. Nonnie was in the WACs (Women’s Army Corp) and served as First Lieutenant.

Poppie and Nonnie met in England during the war

Many years later, Poppie wrote a bunch of stories about his experience while he was stationed in England during the war. Your Uncle David scanned his book for me, so I want to share it with you.

You are always in my heart!

Hi Tony, my name is Karen Bruno and I found your site while I was doing some searching on my family history. I believe we may be distant relatives. My grandmother’s name was Adeline(Dolly) Salvatore, née Martino. Her husband was John, and children Marion and Robert. Her sisters were Lena Martino, Rose Liccione, Anita Tompa, and Josie Carluccio. Her brother was Nick Martino. My grandmother spoke often of Lena Delvecchio and Florence. My grandmother was born in 1903 in Newark NJ. I recognize Phil Delvecchio from pictures, and in fact, i just found a letter that Josie’s son, Ben Carluccio, wrote to Lena Martino in 1945, when he was stationed in Oahu. In the letter he mentions Phil as a Major who was stationed in England. My sister and I are preparing our parents house for sale, and found the letter along with a lot of photos from my grandparents. Be happy to connect if you would like. Your site is a wonderful tribute to your family and I wish you all the best. Karen
